Repair the short to ground and retest as needed.Ģ. If it isn't, then there is a short to ground on the control circuit. Using a digital Volt-Ohm meter (DVOM) check resistence between the control circuit and battery ground. If there is no blockage, disconnect the EGR solenoid and the PCM connector containing the EGR solenoid control circuit. IF you can\'t there may be a blockage causing excessive resistance. When it's activated see if you can blow lightly through it. If it isn't then there is excessive resistance in the circuit and perform the followingġ. If it is then the problem is intermittent. If the solenoid does operate, you'll have to check current draw on the ground circuit. Listen or feel for a clicking, indicating that the solenoid is operating. With the ignition on and engine off, use a scan tool to activate the EGR solenoid. The P0403 indicates the computer is not seeing any voltage on the blue wire coming back from the egr solenoid.
The code will not set and turn on the light until the car's computer has gotten around to completing the EGR self-test. The most common failure is the EGR solenoid goes bad.
P0403 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Malfunction Are the soldered joints all good on the other side? I am surprised the maker won't help. Everything is controlled by the IC (integrated circuit) 11219 in the middle and that chip could also have voltage management capabilities or the IC on the right side. The second one up from the bottom is odd as it seems to be wire wound resistor, so voltage regulation could be that. There are 3 transistors (the small black components standing up) Lots of resistors. C1 and C2 are capacitors, but they aren't electrolytic, they are wafer capacitors.
